It's almost the end of August, which means summer is coming to an end.
Keeping in theme with my last article, I can recall a song from about 20 years ago in Hawaii. It was a cover song, sang by local artist "Justin." It was originally recorded by folk singer John Denver. The title of the song was "Leaving on a Jet Plane."
Today in class we came across the subject of folk singer Chiharu Matsuyama, and his positive deed on an ANA Flight this past week.
All this summer heat and talk about Trump and North Korea has kind of put a downer on the mood.
So for today's song of the day, how about just a good relaxation song?

As someone from Hawaii, I didn't grow up with this tradition. I know we do have Obon dance festivals in Hawaii, and I went to a few as a child. So in my mind, Obon means a dance festival. But in Japan, of course it means much more than that.
Tonight is the annual Chikugo River Fireworks show, the biggest display in western Japan. Are you going to watch it?
